The war lasted from 1939–1945.Some of the major powers were involved in it.The war was mainly between the ALIES and the AXIS powers.

Hey folks, i am not here to speak about any history, but about the movies which portrayed this history sequence very well according to me…

1.SCHINDLERS LIST

In German-occupied Poland during World War II, industrialist Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis

2.SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

Following the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action.

3.PEARL HARBOUR

A tale of war and romance mixed in with history. The story follows two lifelong friends and a beautiful nurse who are caught up in the horror of an infamous Sunday morning in 1941.

4.THE THIN RED LINE

The Thin Red Line is a 1998 Canadian-American epic war film written and directed by Terrence Malick. Adaptation of James Jones’ autobiographical 1962 novel, focusing on the conflict at Guadalcanal during the second World War.

5.ENEMY AT THE GATES

Enemy at the Gates is a 2001 war film .A Russian and a German sniper play a game of cat-and-mouse during the Battle of Stalingrad.

6. FURY

Fury is a 2014 American war film written and directed by David Ayer, and starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood.

7. WARSAW ‘44

In the summer of 1944, the Red Army advances from the east in the direction of Warsaw. For that reason, the Polish underground Home Army launches a revolt against the German occupying force.

8. STALINGRAD

The film is a love story set in November 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad, three months into that six month conflagration that caused nearly 2,000,000 total casualties (wounded, killed, captured) for the two opponents, including tens of thousands of Russian civilians.

9. THE IMITATION GAME

The Imitation Game is a 2014 American historical drama film directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Graham Moore, based on the biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges.

10. THE MAN WITH IRON HEART

It is based on French writer Laurent Binet’s novel HHhH, and focuses on Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during World War II.

11. ANTHRIOPOID

It tells the story of Operation Anthropoid, the World War II assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by Exile Czechoslovak soldiers on 27 May 1942

12. THE VALKYRIE

The film is set in Nazi Germany during World War II and depicts the 20 July plot in 1944 by German army officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and to use the Operation Valkyrie national emergency plan to take control of the country.

13. DEFIANCE

Defiance is a 2008 American war film directed by Edward Zwick set during the occupation of Belarus by Nazi Germany. The screenplay by Clayton Frohman and Zwick was based on Nechama Tec’s 1993 book Defiance: The Bielski Partisans

14.HACKSAW RIDGE

The film focuses on the World War II experiences of Desmond Doss, an American pacifist combat medic who, as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, refused to carry or use a weapon or firearm of any kind. Doss became the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor

15.UNBROKEN

USA Olympian and army officer Louis “Louie” Zamperini, who survived in a raft for 47 days after his bomber crash-landed in the ocean during the Second World War, then was sent to a series of prisoner of war camps.

16. MY WAY

This film is based on the story of a Korean named Yang Kyoungjong who was captured by the Americans on D-Day. Yang Kyoungjong was conscripted into the Japanese Imperial Army, the Red Army, and the Wehrmacht.

17.THE BATTLESHIP ISLAND

It is a Japanese occupation-era film about an attempted prison break from a forced labor camp on Hashima Island.

18. SON OF SAUL

It is set in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, and follows a day-and-a-half in the life of Saul Ausländer (played by Géza Röhrig), a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando.

19. THE BOY IN STRIPED PYJAMAS

The Holocaust drama relates the horror of a Nazi extermination camp through the eyes of two 8-year-old boys; Bruno (Asa Butterfield), the son of the camp’s Nazi commandant, and Shmuel (Jack Scanlon), a Jewish inmate.

20.THE FLOWERS OF WAR

The story is set in Nanking, China, during the 1937 Nanking Massacre in the Second Sino-Japanese War. A group of escapees, finding sanctuary in a church compound, try to survive the plight and persecution brought on by the violent invasion of the city.

21. DUNKRIK

Dunkirk portrays the evacuation from three perspectives: land, sea, and air. It has little dialogue, as Nolan sought instead to create suspense from cinematography and music.

22. OPERATIONAL FINALE

The efforts of Israeli intelligence officers to capture former SS officer Adolf Eichmann in 1960.

23. ETERNAL WINTER

The true story of an unlikely romance in a Soviet labor camp.

24. THE AMBASSADOR OF BERN

A fictional account of the 1958 attack against the Hungarian embassy in Bern. Based on a true story about the aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian revolution.

25.INGLORIOUS BASTARDS

In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner’s vengeful plans for the same.

By watching the above mentioned movies ,we can get the clear understanding of the ww2 attacks ,sorrows and pains ,as well as the clear cut history that our ancestors came across.
